Student Code of Ethics

As a YATA student, I commit to:

Respecting Others

  • Treat all students, directors, staff, volunteers, and audience members with kindness, professionalism, and respect.
  • Celebrate the successes and achievements of my peers.
  • Encourage others and focus on personal growth rather than competition.

Supporting the Entire Production

  • Recognize that every role contributes meaningfully to the final product.
  • Support leads, ensemble members, understudies, swings/doubles, technicians, and stage management equally and respectfully.
  • Be a positive, attentive audience member when I am not actively rehearsing.

Being Accountable

  • Arrive prepared, on time, and ready to participate fully.
  • Learn my material, fulfill my responsibilities, and communicate proactively if challenges arise.
  • Take ownership of my actions and mistakes and work to correct them responsibly.

Protecting Our Community

  • Help maintain a clean, safe, respectful, and welcoming facility.
  • Treat costumes, props, sets, equipment, and rehearsal spaces with care and responsibility.
  • Look for appropriate ways to help and contribute rather than waiting to be asked.

Demonstrating Good Character

  • Avoid gossip, bullying, exclusion, disrespectful behavior or any actions that harm the community.
  • Use social media responsibly and positively, protecting the privacy and dignity of others.
  • Represent YATA with integrity both inside and outside the studio, including online and in public spaces.

Accountability

Violations of the Student Code of Ethics may result in:

  • A conversation with directors or staff
  • Temporary loss of privileges
  • Restrictions on participation in rehearsals or performances
  • Formal documentation of concerns
  • In serious or repeated cases, removal from the program
