Dance Conservatory Teacher (Contract)

Job Description

Young Actors Theater Academy is seeking a dynamic, supportive, and student-centered Dance Conservatory Teacher to lead dance instruction for our daytime conservatory program. This is a contract-based teaching role focused on developing technique, movement vocabulary, confidence, and performance readiness.

The Dance Conservatory Teacher provides structured dance instruction, supports safe technique, and helps students build confidence in movement and performance. This role requires a teacher who can create a supportive, educational environment while delivering high-quality dance training.

This position is contracted per conservatory session and compensated via flat fee.

Responsibilities

Dance Instruction

  • Teach foundational technique (ballet, jazz, musical theatre, or other styles)
  • Lead warm-ups, across-the-floor, combinations, and choreography exercises
  • Provide individualized and ensemble-based feedback
  • Support safe movement practices and injury-prevention habits

Classroom Leadership

  • Maintain organized lesson plans
  • Create a positive, structured, and educational environment
  • Adapt instruction for beginner-to-advanced students
  • Encourage confidence, discipline, and artistic expression

Collaboration

  • Coordinate with YATA leadership on curriculum alignment
  • Communicate clearly regarding student progress and needs

Student Support

  • Provide age-appropriate feedback
  • Maintain professional boundaries
  • Uphold YATA safety and youth-protection policies
